HOLD DOWN REWIND SPRING
The replacement rewind spring is under
tension in its shipping container and will
unwind when the shipping straps, etc. are
removed. Use appropriate caution.
1) Raise dock leveler and position
maintenance strut and traffic barriers as
required for safety. Deck must be fully
raised.

Wire wound cables become frayed with use and must be handled
with care. Use leather gloves or similar protection. See Figure 15
for general illustration of hold down system.
If the rewind spring is broken it may be applying pressure to the hold
down box cover and may spring out when the cover is removed.
Remove cover with care.

4) Remove the hold down box cover, two
bolts. Inspect the rewind spring to
confirm that it is broken.
5) To replace rewind spring, remove
counter weight and lock roller.
Note: At this time, inspect wear strip
and lock roller for wear and use new
components when reassembling if the
degree of wear indicates they will need
to be replaced within ninety (90) days.
6) Remove broken rewind spring by
unhooking ends and pulling pieces out
of box.
