5.4 Installation
Thepipelinenetworkmust beushedbeforethe
unit can be installed.
You must check whether a mineral metering device
needs to be installed downstream from the water
softener for the purpose of preventing corrosion.
Use corrosion-resistant pipe materials for installati-
on.Payattentiontocorrosion-causingchemicalpro-
perties when different pipe materials are combined
(mixed installation), even in the inow direction
upstream of the water softener.
Aprotectiveltermustbeinstalledinthedirection
ofownomorethan1mupstreamoftheunit.The
ltermustbefunctionalbeforethesoftenerisins-
talled. This is the only way to ensure that dirt and
corrosive products do not enter the water softener.
Test sample extraction points must be installed
upstream and downstream of the unit, according
tothespecicationsofVDI6023.
The hose attached to the overow point of the
regenerativecontainerandtheushingwaterhose
must be routed at an incline to the sewage system
or connected to a pump.
AccordingtoEN1717,theushingwaterhoseand
theoverowhosemustbeconnectedtothesewage
systemataspecieddistanceabovethehighest
possible waste water level. (Distance is greater than
thediameterofthedrainpipe).
Iftheushingwaterisfedintoapump,itmustbe
designed for a water volume of at least 2 m
3
/h or
35 l/min for units for building services and at least
3 m
3
/h or 50 l/min for Rondomat and AQA perla XL
Professionalunits.
If the pump is used for other units simultaneously,
it must be sized larger by a factor of their water
output quantities.
The pump must be salt water resistant.
5.5 Operation
The performance specications of the unit must
match the expected usage conditions. Related
information can be found in DIN 1988-200 and in
thetechnicalspecications.
After periods in which little or no water is tapped,
e.g. during holidays, you must fully open the tap
for at least 5 minutes before you can use the water
again (see the section on stoppages in the operating
instructions).
The microbiological quality of the softened water is
also determined by the quality of the regenerative
used.
5.6 Functional and warranty condi-
tions
Water softeners and ion exchange units require
regular functional monitoring, maintenance and re-
placement of important parts after certain intervals.
The amounts of metering substance and regenera-
tive necessary are subject to the level of consumpti-
on, which depends on operating conditions.
Water softeners must be cleaned regularly and also
disinfected if necessary. See the installation and
operating instructions for the maintenance intervals.
We recommend that you enter into a maintenance
agreement.
