Removing and Replacing the Power Supply
This section describes how to remove and install the AC-input power supply and
DC-input power supply for the Catalyst
4500 series switches. This information is
presented in the following sections:

Warning
Hazardous voltage or energy is present on the backplane when the system is
operating. Use caution when servicing.

Figure 4-1 and Figure 4-2 show the AC-input power supplies. Figure 4-3 and
Figure 4-4 show a the DC-input power supplies. Locate your power supply and
notice the location of the captive installation screws.
Note The power supplies are hot-swappable, so in redundant mode you will not need to
power down the switch to replace or upgrade most power supplies. In combined
mode some slots may lose power during an upgrade or power supply replacement.
