CURTIS 1313 HHP
e Curtis 1313 Handheld Programmer (1313 HHP) performs programming and troubleshooting tasks for
all Curtis programmable motor controllers, gauges, and control systems. e 1313 HHP connects to Curtis
devices in one of two ways specic to the device: Either directly via the devices RS232 serial port (applicable to
the E/SE and serial-bus controllers), or through a CANbus connection (applicable to the F-series controllers
and CAN devices). e 1313 HHP also connects to a PC using its mini-USB port for transferring les and
rmware updates. e cables specic to the connection types are included in the 1313 HHP so case. Specic
models match the Curtis Integrated Toolkit
TM
programs access levels.
Note: the F-series controllers do not support the previous grey-band serial-based 1313 HHP.

As described in the 1313 HHP manual (Flash app), the 1313 can download a project conguration into
the F-series controllers using a .c13 le. is is the recommended method for updating multiple vehicles at
customer locations. A .c13 le clones compatible controllers. How to obtain the .c13 le is described above,
in the CIT section.
Furthermore, if only a project’s parameter settings (values) need to be loaded (updated) into other controllers,
then use the 1313HHP to save the parameter settings from a given controller and load them into identical
controllers. is procedure is similar to the “cloning” task in the E/SE series controllers using .cpf les. In the
F-series controllers, the le that the 1313 HHP extracts is a .cdf (clone data le). e .cdf le is an excellent
way to share the parameter settings with colleagues and support engineers. For more detail on this topic, see

For parameter programming and diagnostic purposes, the 1313 HHPs Programmer app matches the look
and function of the Programmer app in the Curtis Integrated Toolkit
TM
program. A Plot & Log app oers a
similar, but limited, function to TACT. e 1313 HHP CAN Monitor app captures CANbus trac over time
and saves the trace as a .csv le. Open and manage the data in the .csv le using a PC spreadsheet program
(e.g., Excel). Transfer the CAN Monitor .csv le to a PC using the SD card or the USB connection.
e 1313 HHP is an excellent choice for the eld technician performing vehicle service, maintenance, and
soware update tasks. In addition to its onboard internal memory, SD cards provide additional 64 MB of
memory and can be used for transferring les between the 1313 HHP and either a PC or another 1313 HHP.
