a) not using th e hand clutch lever. In this case, a-fter turning th e
gas gr ip forward, ("from the driver"), depr ess the gea r sh ift pedal
abrupt ly, bu t avoiding an impact. The speed gear engaged, gradu-
ally let the gearshift pedal return to the middle posi·tion. To ensure
a smoot h return movement of the pedal , try to ret ain it w ith both
toe
and heel. In doing so, n ever a.Uempt to take your foot off the
gearshift pedal, as this wi ll caus e shocks in the motorcycle trans -
mission;
b) using the hand clutch lever. In this case disengage the clutch
before shifting gears and gradually release the c lu tc h l ever after
remov i ng the foot f rom the gears hift peda l as indicated in the Se-
ction "Driving Proced ur e";
c) disen gag i ng the clufch simultaneously by hand (using the
clutch lever) and foot, when shifting gears. Gradually rel ease ei-
