Servicing
the
Wheels
To
prolong
the
service
life of
the
wheels,
it
is
essential
to
tigh
-
te
n
up
in
due
time
the spokes
that
have
lost
their
tension.
The
loo-
sening
of
the
spokes is
particularly
noticeable
during
a
running-in.
At le
ast
once after
every
100, 300, 500, 1000, 1500
and
2500 km,
it
is
ne
cessary
to check (by
tapping
the spokes with a
wrench
or
any
other
m
etallic
, objeot)
and,
if
necessa
ry,
to
tighten
up
the
loose spokes.

the
spokes
are
tightly
a
nd
uni
,formly tensioned.
Durin
g a
running-in
period,
daily
check
toge
ther
with
the
spoke
tension
the
play
of
the
wheels
and
tighten
the
bear-
ings,
if necessary.
The
adjustment
pro
cedu
re
for
the
bear
-
ings
is
as
follows:
raise
the
wheel
above
the
ground;
unscrew
and
extract
the axle;
remo
ve
the
dust-
prot
ect
ing
washer;
insert
and
tighten
up
the
axle (with-
out
the
washer);
slacken the
be
a
ring
a
djustm
ent
check
nut·
ho,lding up
the
wheel with one
hand,
screw
in
the
nut
until
the
bear
·
ings
are
pro-
perly
ad
justed
(the
whee
l
must
turn
freely in
the
bearings,
without noticeable
play).
It
must
be
born
e in mind t
hat
the
ove
r
tighteni
ng
of
the
beari
ngs
as
well
as
too
large
a
play
will disturb the proper
operation
of
the
wheels thus causi
ng
them
to
wear
out
fast;
tighten
up
the
check
nut
reliably,
ta
-
king
care
not
to
dist
urb
the b
eari
ng
a
d-
jus
t
ment;
unscrew
and
take
out
th
e axle;
f
it
the
dust-prot
ecti
ng
washer
back in
its
place,
insert
and
s.
crew
up
the
ax
le;
make
sure
tha
t the wheel
rotates
freely, with
out
any
noti
cea
ble
play;
low
er the wheel to
the
ground.
