Precautions During Preparation
WARNING !
Always use medical grade gases that are dry
and free from dust and oil. Contaminated gas
may cause system malfunction.
WARNING !
Ensure gas-disposal-assembly tubing is not
pinched, kinked, or blocked in any manner.
WARNING !
Only use Dräger Vapor
19.3 or Vapor 2000
with Julian Anesthesia System.
WARNING !
When using a suction system, it is the
responsibility of the user to ensure com-
pliance with all regulations governing the
handling and disposal of articles contami-
nated with body fluids (infectious waste).
WARNING !
Only use original gas sample line. Other lines
may change the technical data of the device.
WARNING !
Do not use antistatic or conductive breathing
circuits!
They present a risk of burn injuries when used
in combination with HF electrosurgery.
WARNING !
Always install parts that have been cleaned
and disinfected!
WARNING !
Devices connected to the auxiliary outlets will
not be powered by the uninterruptible power
supply in the event of a power failure.
Summary of WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
Precautions During Preparation
Operating Instructions Julian SW 3.n
WARNING !
To maintain grounding integrity, connect only
to a "hospital grade" receptacle. Always
disconnect supply before servicing.
WARNING !
Restrictions for use of auxiliary power outlets
Do not connect HF surgical devices to the
auxiliary outlets!
Connecting equipment to the auxiliary outlets
may cause the patient leakage current to rise
above the permitted values in the event of
failure of a protective ground conductor.
In such cases, the risk of electric shock cannot
be excluded.
Additional power strips must not be connected
to the auxiliary outlets.
WARNING !
Always use extreme caution when handling O2
cylinders!
Oxygen intensely supports any burning!
No smoking, no open fire in areas where
oxygen is in use!
Always secure O2 cylinders against tipping!
Do not expose O2 cylinders to extreme heat!
Do not use oil or grease on O2 equipment
such as tank valves or pressure regulators.
Do not touch with oily hands. Risk of explo-
sion!
Open and close valves slowly, with smooth
turns. Do not use any tools.
If a cylinder valve is leaky or difficult to
operate, it must be repaired by an authorized
professional.
WARNING !
Each time you connect a machine to a wall or
ceiling gas outlet carefully check hoses to
ensure that both ends of the hose are indexed
for the same gas. Pipeline delivery hoses used
between wall outlets and anesthesia
machines have caused accidents when,
during assembly, an oxygen fitting was placed
on one end of the hose and a nitrous oxide
fitting on the other end.
