Anesthetic gas measurement All data in % by volume at
(infrared spectrometry) 1013 mbar current atmospheric pressure
Sample rate (selectable) 60 mL/min or 200 mL/min
Delay time for sampling Less than 1 s (for a sample rate of 200 mL/min)
Response time t 10...90
at 200 mL/min 300 ms
at 60 mL/min 1 s
Accuracy The measurement accuracy required by DIN ISO 11196 is
attained at the latest 4 minutes after switching on the apparatus.
The threshold for automatic detection is 0.15% by volume.
To check the complete accuracy of Julian, a temperature
stabilisation time of 1 hour at 21°C should be observed.
The accuracy of the measuring equipment used should be at least
5 times and if possible 10 times higher than that of Julian.
Display range for N2O 0 to 100 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy Better than ±2 vol% absolute or ±3 % of measured value
Display range for halothane 0 to 8.5 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy for
0 to 4 vol% 0.15 vol% or 5 % of measured value
>4 to 8.5 vol% ±10 % of measured value
Display range for isoflurane 0 to 8.5 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy for
0 to 5 vol% 0.15 vol% or 5 % of measured value
>5 to 8.5 vol% ±10 % of measured value
Display range for enflurane 0 to 9.9 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy for
0 to 54 vol% 0.15 vol% or 5 % of measured value
>4 to 9.9 vol% ±10 % of measured value
Display range for sevoflurane 0 to 9.9 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy for
0 to 6 vol% 0.15 vol% or 5 % of measured value
>6 to 9.9 vol% ±10 % of measured value
Display range for desflurane 0 to 22 vol%
Resolution 0.1 vol%
Accuracy for
0 to 15 vol% 0.15 vol% or 5 % of measured value
>8 to 22 vol% ±10 % of measured value
Automatic anesthetic gas identification Volatile anesthetic agents are automatically identified.
Manual selection is not necessary and not possible. In the case
of a mixture of two volatile anesthetic agents, the concentration of
the secondary anesthetic agent is displayed from a MAC value of
0.1 MAC. A secondary anesthetic agent becomes the main
anesthetic agent if its MAC value exceeds the MAC value of the
main anesthetic agent by 0.2 MAC. If a mixture of more than
2 volatile anesthetic agents is present, the display is blank.
Cross-sensitivity None with respect to alcohol, acetone, methane, NO and CO.
