Intermittent Mode
(IM)
Printing mode in which the substrate is moved
intermittently. Whilst the substrate is stationary, the
print head is moved over and prints onto the
substrate.
IME Scheme Input Method Editor. Software feature that enables
user to select a keyboard language (Simplified
Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese or Korean).
I/O Box Input/output device used by a person (or other
system) to communicate with a computer, where
inputs are the signals or data received by the
systems, and outputs are the signals or data sent
from it.
LAN Local Area Network. See Ethernet.
Long-press Holding down a button or function trigger for more
than a few hundred milliseconds. Some functions
change behaviour if they are initiated with a long-
press.
ODBC Open Database Connectivity. A standard for
accessing different database systems.
EasyView Common user interface that will be used across
Easyprint’s technologies.
Range Information presented by the printer - the range
between which the value should appear.
Ribbon Economy Patented feature that enables user to select how
much ribbon will be used for each print. If this menu
is set to 0%, the printer will use exactly the same
area of ribbon as the area of the actual print, i.e. a
1:1 ratio.
RTC Real Time Clock. Computer clock that keeps track of
the current time.
SBC Single Board Computer. This PCB manages the User
Interface (keyboard and display) and performs the
error reporting, monitoring, USB, data storage and
networking functions of the printer.
Shaft Encoder A mechanical device that emits X amount of pulsed
signals per revolution of the shaft. This is typically
attached to a production line to ensure that the print
width is kept constant to varying line speeds.
Slope Type Print parameter that controls the acceleration and
deceleration of the ribbon motor.
