5 SERIAL COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL
5.1 Introduction
The SCU-350 equipped with COM3 (option) on the rear panel can be operated with the compliant
serial interface RS232C.
Prepare the user application software according to this instruction manual. Operation instructions and
the running state of the STP pump can be obtained with the software.
The serial ports located on the SCU-350 rear panel are called Serial Interface Module (SIM). The
equipment, which can communicate with the STP pump via RS232C, is called a PC. Refer to Figure
32.

5.2 Setting up
5.2.1 Hardware Connections
Connection to the RS232 port (CON3) is via the D-sub type connecter (25 pin, socket type) connected
to the rear panel. (see Table 20)

Note: Procure the Serial Interface Cable at your company.
Connect the D-sub 25 pin connecter (pin type) with the R232C serial port (CON3) connector at the
rear panel. Connect the connector on the other side with the appropriate communication equipment
(PC).
