3.5.3. Can/PET Compactor
As shown in Figure 3-13, this compactor comprised of two (2) chambers. The left side is a PET chamber.
The AC motor turns three shafts: one for the paddle that pulls the containers into the compaction
chamber, and two for the rollers that flatten the bottles. The two rollers have small “pin” extrusions on
them. These pins staple the bottles flat. The Can chamber is located on the right side. The AC motor turns
three shafts: one for the paddles that pull the cans into the compaction chamber, and two for the rollers
that flatten the cans. The two rollers have a wave pattern stamped into them, which effectively flattens
the cans.

3.6. Bins
Each machine type has its own bin setup:

• FLEX TRI machine - two tapered bins, one for cans and one for PET. One
large rolling bin for soft drop glass.

• FLEX HDS machine – will fit a euro pallet size bin not included
