toP PLate fascia banD
First, remove the top plate from the unit (re-
fer to the remoVing the top plate section on
page 21).
Remove the four (4) nuts retaining the fac-
sia band using a 3/32” (or 9mm) socket (see
Figure 31).

WARNING: A helper must be used to support the top plate weight while support system is being
disconnected�
To remove the top plate, first lift the plate and set the support hinges (refer to the “Lifting the Top Plate”
section on page 13 for instructions). The top plate is connected to the firebox via two hinge mechanisms
and tensioned safety cable.
Detaching the hinges
For each hinge, remove the two mounting screws using a 5/16” socket. The mounting cradle flanges are
slighlty overbent to ensure the hinges remain connected to the top plate after the screws have been removed.
When ready, the hinge base will need to slide inward to release from the cradle (refer to Figure 32).
