8 Appendix: Troubleshooting Problems
This chapter gives some information of what you can do when problems arise
with the ES511.1 and problems that are not specific to an individual software
or hardware product.
8.1 Error LEDs
Please observe the LEDs which provide information on the functions of the
interface and the ES511.1 (see the chapter 2.6 on page 18) to be able to judge
the operational state of the ES511.1 as well as troubleshooting measures.
8.2 Troubleshooting ES511.1 Problems
The following table lists some of the possible problems with a remedy.

Problem Diagnostic Questions Possible Solutions
Data is lost during data
transfer.
Are you using WLAN in
your test setup?
WLAN is not permissible
within this ETAS net-
work. Wire your test
setup (ETAS modules
and their connection to
the PC) with ETAS cables
only.
Are you using the correct
type of network card in
your laptop?
Check whether you are
using a PCMCIA net-
work card in your laptop.
PCMCIA cards with an 8-
or 16-bit data bus are
not suitable. Only use
PCMCIA cards with a 32-
bit data bus, mini-PCI or
ExpressCards.
