UL Safety Requirements
The Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requirements listed below
pertain to the safe installation and operation of a MediaLink
®
Controller (MLC).
1. Do not use the MLC near water or expose it to liquids.
W
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not
expose this apparatus to rain or moisture.
2. Clean the MLC only with a dry cloth.
3. Do not install the MLC near any heat source, such as
a radiator, heat register, stove, or another apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produces heat.
4. Unplug the MLC during lightning and thunderstorms or
when it will be unused for long periods.
5. For the installation to meet UL requirements and to comply
with National Electrical Code (NEC), the MLC must be
installed in a UL approved junction box. The end user or
installer must furnish the junction box; it is not provided
by Extron.
Panels and Connectors
Front and right side panels
Prior to use, the MLC must be configured using the
Windows-based configuration program. All front panel buttons
can be set up to issue control commands for devices such as
projectors, switchers, or motorized screens. (See chapter 3,
"Software Setup", to access this software.) The pre-labeled
button layout can also be changed. (See "Replacing buttons",
later in this chapter.)
Other controls are located under the wallplate of the MLC 62 D
and on the right side panel of the MLC 62 EU. To access these
controls after installation, remove the wallplate of the MLC 62 D
or remove the entire MLC 62 EU from the wall. (See "Accessing
Front and Side Panel Controls After Mounting", later in this
chapter, for the removal procedures.)
