SONAbeam E
-Series Installation Manual
NOTE…
When properly aligned, both terminals will report similar Rx Power to within
3dB. So for one terminal to report 100uW, while the other reports 200uW is still
within this 3dB margin.
Stage 4 – Locking your Final Alignment
When you have tuned each SONAbeam terminal for optimal signal strength, lock the
azimuth and elevation tuning:
1.
Carefully screw in each locking screw until they make contact with the steering
block.
2.
GENTLY tighten each locking screw against the steering block; noting any
variation in your terminal’s receive signal strength.
3.
If your measured signal strength is affected by the alignment locking operation,
you may need to tweak opposing tuning screws to obtain the desired alignment.
NOTE…
When you have completed the Fine Tuning stage, both SONAbeams should report
approximately the same Receive Signal Strength…
To test mount stability try pushing on the mounting mast and the SONAbeam in
various places so that the signal strength reduces by 25%. After releasing the
force, the signal should return to approximately its original value.
Ask your fSONA representative for a copy of APPNOTE-95-0227, which
documents a simple procedure that you can perform to quantify the stability of
your terminal mount.
