CAUTION
The following instructions are given for the guidance of the operator in the use of the Fulton steam
boiler. No responsibility can be accepted by Fulton Ltd if these instructions are ignored.
3.1 GENERAL
The following instructions are given for the guidance of the operator in the use of the RB/RBC
seriesgasredsteamboilerandtoprovideadequateinformationtoensurethatwhentheboiler
is put into use it will be done safely and without risk to health. Where original equipment service
manuals are supplied, they must be read and understood in conjunction with this manual.
All warnings and cautions must be observed.
SECTION 3 - OPERATION
3.2.1 SYSTEM CONTROLS
Low Water Safety Relays and Feedwater Pump Relays
These relays operate in conjunction with probes suspended in the boiler shell to automatically
maintain the water level in the boiler between set limits.
If the water should fall to an unsafe level, the burner is cut out and an alarm is sounded.
Theprobesarelocatedintwo,100mmdiameterstandpipeangesmountedoneithersideofthe
boiler center line towards the front of the boiler.
AstandardboileristtedwithFeedwaterPumpOn/Off,1stLowWaterand2ndLowWater
probes.
A15mmTDS(surface)Blowdownconnectionissupplied,ttedwithablankange.
IfaTDSmonitoredsystemistteditshouldbeinterlockedsuchthatthevalvewillnotopenwhen
the feedwater pump is running.
Steam Pressure Control(s). Located on the control panel box and connected to the steam
pressure gauge by copper tube, the pressure regulator controls the on/off cycle of the burner,
shutting the burner off when maximum pressure is reached and switching it on when the steam
pressure falls.
