3.4 DRAINING THE BOILER
CAUTION
Your local regulations could state boiler water above 43 °C must not be discharged into the drain.
ALWAYS check your local regulations.

Boilers with manual blowdown valves
1. Ensure the boiler is cold.
2. Isolate the boiler electrics at the isolator on the control box door.
3. Isolate the feedwater tank and the feedwater pumps.
4. Openthedrainvalveintheboilerandtheboilerairvent(iftted)allowingairintotheboiler.
5. Open the blowdown vessel drain valve.
6. Open all valves in the drain lines.
(Skid Units/Plant Rooms, have internal drainage systems which require the same procedures).
Boilers with automatic blowdown systems
1. The boiler should not be under pressure.
The boiler should be cold.
2. Close the blowdown isolation valve.
3. Usingaat-headscrewdriver,locatemanualblowdownbutton(labelledasA in Figure. 16),
push the Manual Blowdown Button up and make a quarter turn clockwise, this will lock the
button in position and open the blowdown valve.
4. Usingtheblowdownisolationvalvetothrottletheow,draintheboiler.
Note: Skid units and plant rooms have internal drainage systems which require the same procedures.
