• Strain gauge calculator
This button opens the window were the k-factor and the bridge-factor for strain measurement can be set. The unit will be
set to
µ
m/m automatically. The explanation helps to understand the correlations between strain, k-factor, bridge-factor
and measuring signal. When the k-factor and the bridge-factor is set, the maximum strain in the relevant measuring
range will be shown.
Example: k-factor is 2 and bridge-factor is 1 (1 strain gauge in the Wheatstone bridge), the maximum range from –2.5
mV/V … 2.5 mV/V is responding to –5,000
µ
m/m … 5,000
µ
m/m.
Data Type
The data Format can be defined as Boolean, integer, long integer or real.
Direction
Set the result at the digital data transfer as empty, input, input/output or output
Column "Range/Error"
The module offers a group of different measuring ranges, e.g. +/-2.5 mV/V. In applications sometimes it is necessary to
limit the measuring range in a fixed span. In this column it is possible to reduce the maximum measuring range e.g. from
0 to 1.0 mV/V. The way to inform the user that the signal has left the range and the behavior at the bus can be set.
