11.11 Releasing the motor brakes (EMERGENCY lowering device)
Releasing the drive brake is used exclusively for reaching the next landing
level down in an emergency. This enables people trapped in the car to
evacuate themselves.
WARNING
Triggering the safety gear by lowering too quickly. This
disables the car which must then be subsequently
enabled. Only lower the car very slowly.
The drives are located on the roof of the car.
Remove the extensions (1) for the
brake release lever (2) from the
bracket and place over the brake
release lever (2).
Carefully release the motor brake by
pulling on the extended brake levers (2).
Car glides downwards.
After every 3.3 6.6 ft-(2 metres) of
lowering, stop for approx. 2 minutes to
avoid overheating the brakes.
After the emergency descent, replace the extensions (1) in the bracket.
