10.2 Calibration Conditions
10.2.1 When is Calibration Necessary?
When you use a measuring volume for the first time.
When you change the adjustment of the camera lenses or when you
change the position of the cameras with respect to each other.
When the system reports a possible decalibration.
10.2.2 Prerequisites
GOM recommends letting the sensor warm up for 20 minutes (camera
and illumination switched on), so that you can calibrate under operat‐
ing conditions.
A prerequisite for successful calibration is the correct setup of the sen‐
sor.
The measuring object defines the measuring volume and thus the set
of lenses to be used. GOM delivers a calibration object with each
measuring volume. The calibration object is a calibration panel or a
calibration cross according to the measuring volume.
Adjust the measuring distance to the calibration object. The distance
depends on the sensor used. You find the measuring distance in sec‐
tion 4.4.
Info
Only use the calibration object belonging to the measuring volume for the
calibration.
Info
At the beginning of the calibration process, enter the measurement tem‐
perature in the software. Measure the temperature using the thermome‐
ter intended for this purpose. To prevent the sensitive point markers from
being scratched, measure the temperature on the rear side of the calibra‐
tion object or at the edge of the case.
