ODEM
If your computer has an integrated modem, this chapter tells you
how to find online help and the preinstalled modem software
program, how to connect the modem in different geographical
regions, and how to connect the modem to a cellular phone in
North America.
NOTE:
If your computer does not have an integrated modem, you
can contact your Compaq authorized dealer, reseller, or service
provider to learn whether a modem option is available for your
computer model and geographical region.
The integrated 33.6 Kbps (kilobits per second) data/fax modem
has telephony features, including speakerphone and telephone
answering, which Windows 95 supports.
Windows NT 4.0 supports data/fax mode only. It does not support
the telephony features of the modem.
Finding Online Modem Help
The online Modem Help topics include more detailed information
than this chapter.
1. Click StartÆHelp, then double-click Modem.
2. Double-click a modem topic on the Contents tab, or click the
Index tab to search for a topic.
NOTE:
In most cases, the modem is controlled by a communications
program. However, if you need to use AT commands, you can
access the AT command set on the Compaq Internet site at
http://www.compaq.com.
