Setting Up the Software
When you turn on the computer the first time, the Compaq setup
screen appears. After you select to begin software setup, you must
complete the entire process, which may require up to 20 minutes.
NOTE:
The Windows operating system is selected on some models
at the time of purchase and on other models during software setup.
If your model has both Windows 95 and Windows NT, during
software setup you will be prompted to choose the operating
system that you want to use. The other operating system will be
deleted from the computer.
CAUTION:
To prevent file corruption and ensure the correct
software drivers are installed:

Before you begin software setup, be sure the diskette drive is in
the computer and that the computer is
not
docked in the optional
expansion base or convenience base.
■
During software setup, do not turn off or unplug the computer or
remove a drive.

to the right and release it to turn on
the computer.
The power/suspend light

on the front of the computer turns
on to indicate that power is turned on.
