Tape drive blank
NOTE: This feature applies only to SCSI models.
To remove the component:
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays
are populated with either a component or a blank.
1. Reach underneath and squeeze the middle of the tape drive blank.
2. Pull the blank out of the bay.
To replace the blank, slide the blank into the bay until it locks into place.
Hot-plug power supply
To remove the component:
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays
are populated with either a component or a blank.
1. Determine how many hot-plug power supplies are installed:
• If only one hot-plug power supply is installed, power down and remove the power cord from the
server ("Power down the server" on page 20).
• If more than one hot-plug power supply is installed, continue with the next step.
2. Do one of the following:
• If the cable management arm is hinged on the left side, proceed by opening the cable
management arm ("Cable management arm with left-hand swing" on page 21).
• If the cable management arm is hinged on the right side, proceed by removing the cable
management arm ("Non-hot-plug procedures" on page 22).
