Important tips
• In these 6Gb/s BladeSystem solutions, a maximum of two controllers are supported for
installation on each HP ProLiant server blade.
• If needed, upgrade to the latest firmware version before use.
• HP Smart Array Server Software is supported for use with the P711m/P712m and its servers,
but it is important to note that the P2000 G3 SAS MSA Array does not use the Smart Array
storage device management software tools of ACU, ADU, and Storage Event Notification
Service. P2000 G3 SAS MSA Array enclosures use MSA-specific storage management
software. For more information about the MSA, see “HP P2000 G3 SAS MSA Array”
(page 19).
• The mezzanine slot in which you install the controller and the BladeSystem server device bay
in which you install the server blade determines the BladeSystem interconnect bay in which
you must install the SAS switches. For details about the relationship between the server type,
mezzanine slot, server device bay, and interconnect bay, see “Device relationships and
mapping information” (page 37).
