Removing and replacing a universal media bay
Procedure
1. Power down the server.
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
• Extend the server from the rack (

• Remove the server from the rack (Removing the server from the rack).
4. Remove the access panel (
Removing the access panel).
CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods with the access panel open or removed. Operating the server
in this manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can lead to thermal damage.
5.
If installed, do the following:
a.
Remove the air bale (Removing and replacing the air bale).
b.
Remove the processor mezzanine tray (
Removing and replacing the processor mezzanine tray).
c.
Remove the CPU Mezzanine UPI performance kit (Removing and replacing the CPU Mezzanine UPI performance kit).
6.
Remove the fan cage (Removing and replacing the fan cage).
7.
Disconnect all cables from the universal media bay.
8.
Remove the universal media bay.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
