Replacing Optional Hardware
Error messages
The following table details messages that indicate problems with the Optional Hardware. Other error
messages may be displayed that relate to licensing issues. See the HPE StoreOnce Optional Hardware
Installation and Configuration Guide for more details.

Short message Error message Description Recommended Action
Failed Failed hardware found There is a valid license
but the hardware is in a
failed/degraded state
Contact HPE Support.
Unlicensed Invalid hardware found
(License mismatch)
The hardware is valid but
does not match the
license
One type of card has
been and installed and
licensed, and then
replaced with a different
type of card. Either put
back the original card or
contact HPE support and
ask them to delete the
original license and apply
the new one.
Degraded Hardware reported as
degraded
The hardware is reported
as degraded.
Contact HPE Support.
Missing Hardware missing The hardware is missing. A card was previously
installed but cannot now
be found. The card may
have been removed or
has failed. Verify that the
card is in the correct slot
and is still functioning.
Incorrect Card installed in the
wrong PCI-E slot
The card is in the wrong
PCIe slot.
It is likely that a card has
been installed in the
wrong slot. Put the card
in the correct slot and try
to activate again.
It can also occur if a card
fails in a lower-order slot.
If the NIC in slot 1 fails
and you are adding a NIC
to slot 4 then slot 1 would
display MISSING or
FAILED and slot 4 would
display Invalid load
order.)
