4.4.1 Functions and Applications
Functions
The E4GF/E4GFA provides four GE SFP optical interfaces to implement data access and line-
speed switching.
Applications
CAUTION
The E4GF cannot work on the S5300SI and the E4GFA cannot work on the S5300EI.
The E4GF/E4GFA front card should be used together with the ETPB extended rear card;
otherwise, only two interfaces of the front card can work.
The E4GF can be inserted into the front card slot of the S5328C-EI, S5352C-EI, S5328C-EI-24S,
S5328C-PWR-EI, or S5352C-PWR-EI.
The E4GFA can be inserted into the front card slot of the S5328C-SI, S5352C-SI, S5328C-
PWR-SI, or S5352C-PWR-SI.
The cost of a GE interface is higher than that of other interfaces, so it is used as an uplink
aggregation interface on high-bandwidth and high-speed Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs)
or backbone networks. When an enterprise user needs the high-quality triple-play service, the
E4GF/E4GFA provides access interfaces for downlink devices or networks. The E4GF/E4GFA
uses fibers as transmission media and supports up to 100 km transmission distance. Different
transmission distances can be supported by changing ESPF optical modules.
4.4.2 Panel
Figure 4-3 shows the appearance of the E4GF (applicable to the S5300EI).
