Emergency Handling for Fire Incidents in Battery Rooms
D ANGER
Batteries on re may release ammable and toxic gases and cause insulation
failures. During the re extinguishing process, all emergency response personnel
must wear a full set of protective suite, including ame retardant or reproof
clothing, air-purifying respirator or breathing apparatus, re helmet, and insulated
shoes.
D ANGER
A battery re may reignite after having been extinguished. After the re is
extinguished, cool the batteries for at least 24 hours and observe them using a
thermal imager to ensure that the temperature of the batteries decreases to room
temperature.
1. The gas re extinguishing system in the room shall be started after all people
evacuate to a safe area.
2. If the gas re extinguishing system cannot extinguish the re, emergency
response personnel shall start the dry-type water re extinguishing system
after conrming that the power supply to the battery system is disconnected.
Then quickly evacuate to a safe area and wait for reghters to extinguish
the re. After reghters arrive and extinguish the re, spray water for 12
hours.
3. After the reghters conrm onsite that the equipment temperature has
decreased to room temperature±10°C, observe the situation for 24 hours to
ensure that the temperature does not rise and no smoke is emitted.
