If the instrument had kept the display scale and offset at their original values of 5 and 7 A, the
Ax+B waveform would have appeared as nothing more than an unreadable set of nearly vertical
lines, as shown below.
FFT Measurement
Use FFT to compute the fast Fourier transform on voltage, current, power, or math channels.
The FFT transform takes the digitized time record of the specified source and transforms it to
the frequency domain. When the FFT function is selected, the FFT spectrum is plotted on the
display as magnitude versus frequency. The readout for the horizontal axis changes from time to
frequency (Hertz) and the vertical readout changes from volts to dB.
To display an FFT waveform:
1. Press [Math]>Display Math and select the math function to display.
2. Press the Operator softkey and select the FFT Transform.
3. Press Source 1 and select the source for the FFT.
4. Press Span and set the horizontal width of the FFT spectrum to display. If you set this above
the maximum available frequency, the displayed spectrum will not take up the whole screen.
