Acquisition Control
Whenever you turn a knob or press a button that affects the waveform
measurement or display during a running acquisition, the acquisition re-starts. Be
sure to configure everything associated with your measurement before you
acquire data.
The [Run/Stop] and [Single] keys start and stop the instrument's acquisition system.
When [Run/Stop] is green, the instrument is running and acquiring data when trigger
conditions are met. To stop acquiring data, press [Run/Stop]. When [Run/Stop] is red, data
acquisition is stopped and the last acquired waveform is displayed. To start acquiring data, press
[Run/Stop].
To capture and display one acquisition (whether the instrument is running or stopped), press
[Single]. The [Single] key is yellow until the instrument triggers. The [Single] key lets you view
single-shot events without subsequent waveform data overwriting the display. It also provides
maximum memory depth for pan and zoom.
When you press [Single], the trigger mode is temporarily set to Wait for Trigger (to keep the
instrument from auto-triggering immediately), the trigger circuitry is armed, the [Single] key is
illuminated, and the instrument waits until a trigger condition occurs before it displays a
waveform.
When the instrument triggers, the single acquisition is displayed and the instrument stops
([Run/Stop] is illuminated in red). Press [Single] again to acquire another waveform.
If the instrument does not trigger, press [Force Trigger] to trigger on anything and make a
single acquisition.
