Phasor diagram interpretation
The phasor diagram appears as shown below. Here, the Source softkey is set to Group A.
The horizontal axis of the phasor diagram (0 degrees) is defined as the phase of the voltage
signal in the first channel in a wiring group, or the voltage signal of the selected channel if that
channel is not part of a wiring group. All other phasors are shown in relationship to that.
The phasor diagram is based on FFT analysis, which provides the fundamental frequency of the
voltage that defines 0 degrees. This frequency is displayed to the right of the plot. The
magnitude and phase shift of the other voltage and current signals are then computed at this
fundamental frequency to derive the phasors shown on the plot and the calculated values
surrounding it. if the current phasor is found clockwise from the voltage phasor, the current
lags the voltage, indicating a primarily inductive circuit. If the current phasor is found
counterclockwise from the voltage phasor, current leads voltage, indicating a capacitive circuit.
When a channel is grouped into a delta wiring group (3P-3W-3M or 3P-3W-2M),
the instrument uses the line to neutral voltage of that channel for the phasor
diagram.
