PCIe Link Configuration Restoring the Factory Default 1x8 Base Configuration
3 If you have an external (remote) controller PC, perform the following steps:
a Remove any system or cable interface module from Slot 1 in the chassis.
b On the M9018B chassis, locate the Load Base Configuration switch on the
backplane just to the left of slot 1. It is the second switch from the left. See
Figure 72 on page 135.
c Flip the Fabric configuration switch to the UP position.
d Reinstall the system or cable interface module from Slot 1 in the chassis.
Connect the system module to the host PC with a PCIe cable.
e Power up the chassis.
f Power on the host PC. Wait until the host PC has completely restarted as
indicated by the appearance of the Windows OS start screen. At this point,
the Base Configuration (1x8) has been loaded into the PCIe Switch Fabric.
g Shut down the PC. Power down the chassis. Remove the system module
from the chassis, reset the Fabric configuration switch to the DOWN (default)
position.
h Reinstall the system module into the chassis
i Power up the chassis, power up the host PC.
4 While the Base Configuration 1x8 has now been loaded into the PCIe Switch
Fabric, the virtual switch is still set to the 2x8 position. In order to re-position
the virtual switch to the Base position, chassis software needs to be run. This
is most easily accomplished by bringing up the SFP. In running the SFP, the
IVI driver used by the SFP will detect that the Load Base Configuration
Pushbutton has been used, and will reposition the virtual switch to the Base
Configuration position. The PCIe Link Configuration display on the SFP Monitor
tab will now show “2-Link Configuration: 1x8 (Factory Default]”.
Figure 73 on page 137 shows the complete time line for preemptively restoring
the factory default 1x8 Base Configuration.
