Removing engine
coolant reservoir cap
Never attempt to
remove the engine
coolant reservoir cap
while the engine is operating or hot.
Doing so might lead to cooling system
damage and could result in serious per
-
sonal injury from escaping hot coolant or
steam.
1. Turn the vehicle off and wait until it
cools down.
2. Use extreme care when removing the
engine coolant reservoir cap. Wrap a
thick towel around it, and turn it coun
-
terclockwise slowly to the first stop.
3. Step back while the pressure is
released from the cooling system.
4. When you are sure all the pressure
has been released, press down on the
cap, using a thick towel, and continue
turning counterclockwise to remove it.
