In Modbus RTU, it is possible to connect to the same communication lines an indefinite
number of loggers using different slave numbers. Each data logger will have the Modbus
slave address given by the identification configuration parameter ‘target’ i.e. the last
two digits of the site number. So when the slave ‘N’ holding register read is requested,
the logger with target N will respond and other data loggers will ignore that request.
