Multicomponent Force Plate for Biomechanics Type 9287C…
6. Maintenance
The multicomponent force plate Type 9287C... is a de-
pendable instrument requiring virtually no maintenance. To
ensure long and reliable operation of the force plate, please
read the next two sections.
6.1 Recalibration of the Instrument
The four 3-component force sensors in the force plate have
quartz sensing elements. The output signal results from the
piezoelectric effect in quartz. The electric charge yielded is
exactly proportional to the acting force. The sensitivity is a
material constant and, therefore, will never change it. By
the very principle it is not necessary to recalibrate.
Nevertheless it is important to regularly perform certain
tests to ensure the correct functioning of all parts of the
system.
6.2 Weekly Function Check
The system check should be performed weekly.
6.2.1 Drift Check
Take a 30 second measurement of the unloaded force
plate. Check the drift of every channel to be within accept-
able limits (see technical data or whatever is acceptable for
the application).
6.2.2 Check Gap Around Force Plate
Check the gap around the force plate with a piece of pa-
per. If the gap is filled with dust or dirt there is possibility
for force shunt resulting in wrongly measured forces.
