Multicomponent Force Plate for Biomechanics Type 9287C…
6.4 Calibration of the Force Plate
As described above, the piezoelectric effect does not vary
over the time.
Nevertheless many people want to calibrate their force
plates by their own to be very confident.
Before the force plate calibration, a system check has to
be performed and the charge amplifier has to be recali-
brated. (The charge amplifier is the most likely part of
the system to cause errors).
It is advisable to perform the calibration measurements
multiple times to detect irregular results.
The forces used for the calibration have to be in the
same order as the normally performed measurements.
(A reasonable calibration mass for gait analysis applica-
tions is >20 kg).
6.5 Regular Checks
Important:
Always inspect your force plate for visible damage
before using it. Do not put a damaged instrument
into operation!
Leave all repairs (e.g. replacement of damaged plug
and socket connections or defective sensors) to
Kistler trained service personnel
6.5.1 With External Amplifier (Type 9287C)
Keep the connector meticulously clean. If necessary clean
the plug and socket of the force plate or connecting cable
with Kistler cleansing and insulating spray Type 1003 or
rectified benzene if it is contaminated or the insulation re-
sistance is bad (<1 TΩ).
Please refer to the instruction manual 002-034 "Force
Plate Installation and Maintenance" for detailed pro-
cedures and information.
