TP-6277 10/038 Operation
2.7 Circuit Protection
AC Circuit Breaker (8E: 33 amp, 10E: 42 amp, or
12.5E: 50 amp) trips when a fault is detected in the AC
output circuit. See Section 4—Troubleshooting to
determine cause of fault. After correcting fault, reset the
AC circuit breaker by placing in the ON position.
Input (Controller) Fuse (10 amp) indicates a fault in
the controller c ircuit. See Section 4—Troubleshooting.
After correcting the fault, replace with a new fuse of the
same rating. Unit is then ready to be restarted.
Battery Charging Fuse (15 amp) indicates a fault in the
battery charging circuit. After correcting the fault,
replace with a new fuse of the same rating. Charging
circuit is then functional.
Voltage Regulator Fuse (10 amp) indicates a fault in
the voltage regulator and/or generator circuit. After
correcting the fault, replace with a new fuse of the same
rating. Voltage regulator circuit is then functional.
2.8 Engine Safety Shutdown
Switches
Four shutdown switches protect the engine. These
switches automatically reset after correcting the
problem or cooling down the unit (if the problem was
overheating). The following conditions will cause a
generator set shutdown:
Low Oil Pressure
High Water Temperature
High Exhaust Temperature
Overspeed
Low oil pressure of 48 kPa (7 psi) or less will shut down
theunitaftera5seconddelay.
Note: The low oil pressure switch does not act as a low
oil level switch. The only way to protect against
damage from low oil level is to check oil level
regularly.
High Water Temperature of 103_C ±4_C (218_F ±7_F)
or greater will cause the unit to shut down after a
5 second delay.
High Exhaust Temperature of 102_C ±3_C (215_F
±5_F) or greater will cause the unit to shut down after a
5 second delay.
Overspeed (overfrequency) will immediately shut
down the unit at 70 Hz or greater.
2.9 Remote Panels (Optional)
2.9.1 Remote Start Panel
The remote start panel allows starting and stopping from
a location remote of the generator set. Generator sets
are equipped with a 6-pin connector on the controller for
connection of the kit. See Figure 2-2.

2.9.2 Remote Start and
Two-Meter Panel Kit
The remote start and two-meter panel kit allows starting
and stopping from a location remote of the generator
set. The illuminated gauges include engine oil pressure
gauge and water temperature gauge. Generator sets
come equipped with a 6-pin connector on the controller
for connection of the panel kit. See Figure 2-3 for the
remote start and meter panel kit.

Engine Oil Pressure Gauge measures engine oil
pressure. Normal engine operating range is
131-172 kPa (19-25 psi).
Note: During the engine break-in period, the engine
normally produces higher oil pressure readings.
Water Temperature Gauge measures engine coolant
temperature. Normal engine operating range is
84--95_ C (185--205_ F).
