5. Use a gapping tool to gently bend the side
electrode closer to or farther from the center
electrode to set the correct gap. See Figure 3-19.
The side electrode must be directly over the center
electrode.

6. Reinstall the spark plug. Do not bump the
electrode against the cylinder head. Rotate the
spark plug clockwise until resistance is felt.
7. Use a torque wrench to torque each spark plug to
15-20 Nm (11-15 ft. lbs.). Otherwise, hand-tighten
spark plug until there is resistance. Use a ratchet
wrench to final tighten an additional 1/4 turn. Do not
overtighten, as doing so may s trip the threads or
alter electrode gap setting.
8. Check the spark plug wire connector in the boot for
accumulated dirt, grease, etc., and clean as
necessary. Firmly push the spark plug boot onto
the spark plug.
