te xt in 40-column format. To switch to 80-
column mode, type the following BASIC

When the computer is in 80-column te xt
mode ( indi cated by a non-flashing so lid
cursor), th e following contro l-c hara cters arc
r ecogn i zed as special com m ands:
CTRL-G:
"Beeps" the s peaker.
