The
computer
is

in
either
40-column
(40
characters
per
lin
e)
or
80-column
for
mat
(80
characters
per
line).
In
both
cases,
24
lines
of
t
ext
can
be
di
splayed
on
the
sc
reen
at
a
time.
Immediately
after
power-up,
the
display
is
in
40-column
text
mode.
However,
if
the
display
is s
omehow
switc
hed
to
graphics
mode,
you
can
return
to
text
mode
by
typing
the
following
BASIC
command:
]TEXT<CR>
Note:
<CR>
means
to
press
the
RETURN
or
the
ENTER
key.
The
entire
scree
n
will
then
di
s
play
text
again.
The
BASIC
prompt
character
"]"
and
the
cursor
will
be
displayed
at
th
e
bottom
of
the
sc
reen.
40-column
text
The
primary
reason
for
h
aving
a
40-column
text
mode
in
your
computer
is
to
a
llow
a
low-resolution
video
monitor
or
TV
to
be
used
as
the
video
display
device.
To
sw
itch
from
80-column
text
to
40-column
text,
type
the
following
BASIC
statement:
