THE
VIDEO
DISPLAY
The
video
display
is
one
of
the
most
important
output
devices
of
a
computer:
It
allows
the
us
er
to
monitor
the
current
status
of
a
program
running
on
the
computer
and
examine
the
computation
results
visually.
Besides
co
nventional
text
display,
the
LASER
128/
128EX
is
also
capable
of
displaying
color
graphics.
Graphical
presentation
is
often
more
attractive
than
textual
materials
and
is
therefore
easier
to
be
captured.
On
the
other
hand,
text
is
still
a
simple
and
effective
way
of
expressing
ideas.
As a
compromise,
the
computer
allows
you
to
di
sp
lay
both
text
and
graphics
on
the
screen
at
the
sa
me
time
.
In
mo
st cases,
the
appropriate
video
display
mode
will
be
selected
by
the
application
program
you
are
using
so
that
you
don't
have
to
worry
about
it.
This
chapter
serves
only
as
a
reference
for
those
user
s
interested
in
writing
programs
for
the
computer.
