Thissectionexplainsthememorymoduleinstallationorderinsparingmode.Thesparingmodeprovides
memoryredundancy.Inthismode,theRASfeaturesareavailable.FormoreinformationabouttheRAS
features,refertotherelatedsectionin“Features”onpage7
.
Note:Itisrecommendedthatallmemorymodulestobeinstalledmustbethesametype(LVRDIMM,
RDIMM,orUDIMM)withthesamecapacity,frequency,voltage,andnumberofranks.
Yourserversupportsranksparingmode.Inranksparingmode,onerankofamemorymoduleworksasthe
sparerankfortheotherranksonthesamechannel.Thesparerankisnotavailableassystemmemory.To
enableranksparingmode,ensurethat:
•Atleastthreeranksareavailableinonechannel.
•Thecapacityofthesparerankmustbethesamewithorlargerthanthecapacityofotherrankswithin
thesamechannel.
