ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremovetheRAIDcard.Thistopicappliesonlytomodelsthathave
aRAIDcardinstalled.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•EnsurethatyoubackupyourdatabeforeremovingtheRAIDcardbecauseyoumightneedtoreconfigure
RAIDandreinstalltheoperatingsystemafterremovingtheRAIDcard.
•IfyouremovetheRAIDcard,youwilllosetheadvancedSATA/SAShardwareRAIDfunctions.
•Ifyourserverhasonemicroprocessorinstalled,itisrecommendedthattheRAIDcardbeinstalledintothe
PCI-Eslot5orPCI-Eslot2.Ifyourserverhastwomicroprocessorsinstalled,itisrecommendedthat
theRAIDcardbeinstalledintothePCI-Eslot4.
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeRAIDcardandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToremovetheRAIDcard,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.RemovethePCIcardbracketassembly.See“RemovingandreinstallingthePCIcardbracket
assembly”onpage89.
5.LocatetheRAIDcard.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage48.
6.Removeanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouroperation.
7.DisconnectallcablesfromtheRAIDcardandanyotherrelatedparts.
Note:IfyouwanttoinstallanewRAIDcardafterremovingtheoldone,recordthecableconnections
beforedisconnectingthecables.
