Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Notes:
•UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeRAIDcardandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
•EnsurethatyoubackupyourdatabeforeinstallingtheRAIDcardbecauseyoumightneedtoreconfigure
RAIDandreinstalltheoperatingsystemafterinstallingtheRAIDcard.
•Ifyourserverhasonemicroprocessorinstalled,itisrecommendedthattheRAIDcardbeinstalledintothe
PCI-Eslot5orPCI-Eslot2.Ifyourserverhastwomicroprocessorsinstalled,itisrecommendedthat
theRAIDcardbeinstalledintothePCI-Eslot4.
ToinstalltheRAIDcard,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.LocatetheappropriatePCI-Eslotonthesystemboard.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage48.
5.Removeanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouroperation.
6.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheRAIDcardtoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheRAIDcardoutofthepackage.

7.InstalltheRAIDcard.TheprocedureissimilartothatoftheEthernetcard.See“InstallingtheEthernet
card”onpage100.
8.ConnectsignalcablestotheconnectorsonthenewRAIDcardandtheconnectorsonthehot-swap
hard-disk-drivebackplanes.See“Connectingthecables”onpage43.
9.InstallthePCIcardbracketassemblythatcomeswiththeRAIDcard.See“Removingandreinstalling
thePCIcardbracketassembly”onpage89.

latestversionoffirmware.Then,installthefirmwaretoyourserver.
