Memorymoduleinstallationrules
Yourserverhas12memoryslotsandithasthefollowingfeatures:
•Eachslotsupports2GB,4GB,8GB,and16GBdoubledatarate3low-voltageregistereddualinline
memorymodules(DDR3LVRDIMMs).
•Eachslotsupports2GB,4GB,8GB,and16GBDDR3RDIMMs.
•Eachslotsupports2GBand4GBDDR3unbuffereddualinlinememorymodules(UDIMMs)withError
CheckingandCorrecting(ECC)technology.
•Yourserversupportsuptosixmemorymoduleswhenonemicroprocessorisinstalledandupto12
memorymoduleswhentwomicroprocessorsareinstalled.
•TheminimumsystemmemoryforUDIMMs,RDIMMsorLVRDIMMsis2GB(onlyonemicroprocessor
installedandonlyone2GBUDIMM,RDIMMorLVRDIMMinstalledintheCPU1DIMMA1slot).
•ThemaximumsystemmemoryforRDIMMsorLVRDIMMsis192GB(twomicroprocessorsinstalledand
one16GBRDIMMorLVRDIMMinstalledineachofthe12memoryslots).
•ThemaximumsystemmemoryforUDIMMsis48GB(twomicroprocessorsinstalledandone4GB

Beforeinstallingamemorymodule,ensurethatyouobservethefollowingguidelines:
•Allmemorymodulestobeinstalledmustbethesametype(LVRDIMM,RDIMM,orUDIMM).
•Whenyouinstallmemorymoduleswithdifferentranksinonechannel,startfromthefarthestmemoryslot
inthechannelandinstallthememorymodulethathasthemostranksfirst.
•Ifyouinstall1.35Vmemorymodulesand1.50Vmemorymodulesintothememoryslotsforthesame
microprocessor,youmustconfiguretheworkingvoltageintheBIOSsothatallthememorymodules
runat1.50V.
•Whenyouinstallmemorymoduleswithdifferentfrequenciesintothememoryslotsforthesame
microprocessor,allthememorymodulesrunatthelowestfrequency.
•Itisrecommendedthatyouinstallthelow-voltagememorymodulesintothememoryslotsforthesame
microprocessortoensurelowpowerconsumption.
•Itisrecommendedthatyouinstallthehigh-frequencymemorymodulesintothememoryslotsforthe
samemicroprocessortoensurehighperformance.
