Therebuildrateisthepercentageofthecomputingcyclesdedicatedtorebuildingfailingdrives.Therebuild
ratecanbeconfiguredbetween0percentand100percent.At0percent,therebuildoperationisdoneonlyif
thesystemisnotdoinganythingelse.At100percent,therebuildoperationhasahigherprioritythanany
othersystemactivity.

Runningaconsistencycheck
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtorunaconsistencycheckforvirtualdrivesusingtheLSISoftware
RAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram.
TheconsistencycheckoperationverifiesthatallstripesonavirtualdrivewitharedundantRAIDlevel(RAID
1,RAID5,andRAID10)areconsistentandthedateonthevirtualdriveiscorrect.Forexample,inasystem
withparity,checkingconsistencymeanscomputingthedataononedriveandcomparingtheresultsto
thecontentsoftheparitydrive.
Youshouldrunaconsistencycheckonfault-tolerantvirtualdrivesperiodically.Itisrecommendedthatyou
runaconsistencycheckatleastonceamonth.Youmustrunaconsistencycheckifyoususpectthatthe
virtualdrivedatamightbecorrupted.Ensurethatyoubackupthedatabeforerunningaconsistencycheck
ifyoususpectthatthedatamightbecorrupted.
TorunaconsistencycheckusingtheLSISoftwareRAIDConfigurationUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:

2.Onthemaininterfaceoftheprogram,selectCheckConsistencyandfollowtheinstructionsonthe

Theconsistencycheckrateistherateatwhichconsistencycheckoperationsarerunonasystem.The
consistencycheckratecanbeconfiguredbetween0percentand100percent.At0percent,theconsistency
checkisdoneonlyifthesystemisnotdoinganythingelse.At100percent,theconsistencycheckhasa
higherprioritythananyothersystemactivity.
