ConfiguringtheThinkServerRAID100orRAID300
TheThinkServerRAID100orRAID300(alsoknownasonboardSATA/SASsoftwareRAID)isintegratedin
thePCHonthesystemboard.Ifyouconnectthesignalcablesfromthesystemboardtotheharddiskdrives
orbackplane,youcanconfigureRAIDfortheharddiskdrivesusingtheLSISoftwareRAIDConfiguration
Utilityprogram,independentlyoftheoperatingsystem.TheThinkServerRAID100orRAID300supports
RAIDlevels0,1,and10bydefault.YoualsocanactivateRAID5byinstallingaThinkServerRAID100or
RAID300UpgradeKeyforAdvancedRAID.See“InstallingorremovingtheThinkServerRAID100orRAID

YoucaninstallandusetheMegaRAIDStorageManagerprogramtomanagetheRAIDarrayandRAID
controllerinanoperatingsystemenvironment.
BeforeconfiguringRAIDforyourserver,observethefollowingprecautions:
•Useharddiskdrivesthatareofthesametype(SATAorSAS)andhavethesamecapacitywithina
singleRAIDarray.
•ThetotaldrivecapacityoftheprimaryRAIDarrayislimitedto2TB.
RAIDarraystatus
Whenyouturnontheserver,theRAIDcontrollerROMversion,theRAIDarraystatus,andthelistofavailable
harddiskdriveswillbedisplayedduringthePOST.
TheRAIDarraystatuscanbeoneofthefollowing:
•Online
Thisisthenormalstatus,whichindicatesthattheRAIDarrayisworkingcorrectly.
•Degrade
ThisstatusindicatesthatmorethanoneharddiskdriveintheRAIDarraycannotbesynchronizedorhave
failed.Youneedtoreplacethefailingharddiskdrivesandrebuildthedata.See“Installingorreplacinga

•Offline
ThisstatusindicatesthattheRAIDarrayhasfailedandcannotberebuilt.YouneedtocreateanewRAID
