Before removing the system fan cage:
1. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 56.
2. Remove the air baffle. See “Remove the air baffle” on page 60.
3. If you are replacing the system fan cage, remove all system fans first. See “Remove a system fan” on
page 120. If you are removing the system fan cage to access other components, you can remove it with
the system fans installed.

Step 1. Remove the screws that secure the system fan cage to the chassis from the exterior of the chassis.
Step 2. Grasp the system fan cage and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
If you are instructed to return the old system fan cage, follow all packaging instructions and use any
packaging materials that are provided.
