Step 2. Rotate the backplane to vertical position and align the holes in the backplane with the pins on the
chassis. Then, press the backplane into position. The release tabs will secure the backplane in
place.
After installing the backplane;
1. Reinstall drives or drive fillers.
2. Complete the parts replacement. See “Complete the parts replacement” on page 164.

Before removing the 3.5-inch simple-swap-drive backplate assembly:
1. Remove the top cover. See “Remove the top cover” on page 56.
2. Remove all the installed drives and drive fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See “Remove a simple-swap
drive” on page 79.
3. Disconnect the cables from the system board. See “Server models with eight 3.5-inch simple-swap
drives” on page 33. Then, remove the corresponding cables from the cable clips.
