•Droppingthemicroprocessorduringinstallationorremovalcandamagethecontacts.
•Donottouchthemicroprocessorcontacts;handlethemicroprocessorbytheedgesonly.Contaminants
onthemicroprocessorcontacts,suchasoilfromyourskin,cancauseconnectionfailuresbetween
thecontactsandthesocket.
•Thepinsonthesocketsarefragile.Anydamagetothepinsmightrequirereplacingthesystemboard.
•Removingtheheatsinkfromthemicroprocessordestroystheevendistributionofthethermalgrease,
youmustwipeoffthethermalgreasewiththealcoholwipesandreapplycleanthermalgrease.See

•Afteryouremoveanewmicroprocessororanewheatsink,youneedtoinstallanewone.See“Installing

Toremovethemicroprocessorandheatsink,dothefollowing:
Step1.Turnofftheserver.Then,disconnectallexternalcablesandremoveallperipheraldevices.
